According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics report in 2018, there were 900,380 days-away-from-work cases in the private sector. Thirty percent (272,780 cases) of the total cases were related to musculoskeletal disorders. The healthcare and social assistance industry had 56,360 such cases.

In a survey of office workers published in 2020, it was found that 71.9% of staff reported musculoskeletal disorders. The lower back, wrists/hands and shoulders were the most reported body regions for these disorders.
